KIDS LIFE COACH
Giving kids age-appropriate materials to learn concepts like flexibility & self-awareness provides them with the life-long skills to relate to others and the world around them in more positive ways.
Working with the Stress Nanny - from the first Kickoff to Calm call to the Less-Stressed Superstar Celebration and everything in between - your child will go on a journey of learning to break negative thought patterns, handle emotions, recognize behaviors and triggers, and manage responses with confidence.
In the short-term, your child might stop having tantrums, learn to manage worry, and gain confidence. But in the long-term, they’ll grow into competent, capable, self-assured adults.
Troy, dad of an 8 yr old in Coaching says:
"Thank you so much for your investment in Grayson, we’re seeing so much growth and your work is a large part of it. It’s helping him and helping us be better parents for all our children! Also really appreciate the weekly updates. I know I don’t always chime in, but I read each one and they’re very helpful and appreciated!"
Many Stress Nanny families have kids who:
are in need of executive functioning skills (ADHD diagnosis, issues with disorganization or having a filter)
identify as worriers or feel stressed a lot of the time
are Montessori grads and now attend public or private school
tend to be hard on themselves or struggle with self-esteem
identify as active kids and/or high-performers (theatre, soccer, choir, or swim, etc) who feel that stress is interfering or who want to gain a competitive advantage through mindfulness
HOW KIDS LIFE COACH SERVICES WORK
The Stress Nanny Process
Untangling Stress Questionnaire
Begin your child's individual coaching journey by completing a questionnaire that will help us explore your child's unique needs and the vision you have for your child's potential.
The Checklist to Chill
No one loves housekeeping but it's gotta happen sometime... complete your coaching agreement and your first invoice and your first mindfulness box will be in the mail - but no peeking before our first session together!
Meet & Greet
We'll have a reassuring 15 minute Zoom call to make a personal connection and ensure coaching is a good fit for your child. If we're both feeling good, we'll find a regular weekly session time.
Behind the Scenes Brainstorm
Sit back and know that help is on the way. I'll start to identify specific ways that mindfulness will support your child's growth, removing roadblocks to development and helping your child manage obstacles with confidence and ease.
The Kick-Off to Calm
It's time to let the best mindfulness activities out of my Mary Poppins bag! During our first call, your child and I personalize and decorate their mindfulness journal and pick out a prize for their breathing practice.
Beginning with our first call and continuing through graduation, I'll offer you insights in my weekly emails, teaching you the tools that your child learned and giving you simple ways to implement those tools in your own home.
Mindful Milestones
Big gains and backsliding are to be expected. You'll see rollercoaster progress while we're building neural connections on our ongoing calls. I'll be introducing abstract concepts at the cutting edge of your child’s current understanding.
You and your child will experience increasing confidence as you practice and learn the tools together, implementing them in everyday moments and seeing your child flourish in moments where before they withdrew or melted down. Our calls will taper at this point as you near graduation.
The Less-Stressed Superstar Celebration
We know you're ready to throw the confetti and hold your trophy in your hands when a growing desire to try new things comes back.
At our Less-Stressed Superstar Celebration, we look back on the progress we've made and celebrate new skills like self-awareness, emotional regulation, mindfulness and resilience in moving through challenging moments.
While your child will still face challenges, he or she will do so with a foundation of confidence and resilience, knowing that there are always creative ways to manage tough situations.
IS A KIDS LIFE COACH A GOOD FIT FOR YOUR FAMILY?
Individual Coaching is for families who:
have a kid - or set of siblings - who is open to learning and ready for a change
want to take an active role in the process but need help with resources and tools
can attend calls consistently and have time to reinforce what we’re learning during the rest of the week
may already have some baseline practices of communication or emotional regulation in place
MONTH ONE:
building trust and learning to work as a parent/coach/child team
"Ava wanted me to tell you that she wishes she could meet with you every day because she loves talking and learning from you!"
As we address your child's most pressing needs, I'll be building my relationship with them. You and your child will feel a sense of relief and a glimmer of hope that things can be different.
MONTHS 2-4:
normalizing emotions
and learning how brains work
"Thanks for sending the graphic, it was wonderful to see how Olivia is thinking about things. She has had a pretty great attitude about the adjustments and pivoting we have had to do. I am really grateful for what she has learned."
As your child begins to practice self-awareness you'll see a pause here and there. There will be moments when you see a little less reactivity than before.
MONTHS 5-7:
using self-awareness to test out new strategies and tools
"We so appreciate your feedback and encouragement. A lot of this is starting to integrate for Jackson."
As we build your child's emotional intelligence toolbox you'll see your child testing out different strategies. Look for trying, failing, trying again to figure out which tools help in which moments. This process gives us a chance to practice growth mindset.
MONTHS 8-9:
managing the flow of thoughts to focus on what's helpful
"I have noticed lots of growth with Isabella's ability to cope with these unknown situations."
Look for more emotional steadiness, fewer outbursts or fewer withdrawals from company. There will be more and more moments where your child is actively managing thoughts and emotions.
MONTH 10-11:
Using the toolbox:
optimizing and practicing
"This week Sophia learned to ride a bike! She’s been scared of that for years and she overcame her fear and did it! We were so proud of her."
This is where it gets fun because the momentum we’ve built over the year really takes over. All of a sudden your child is curious and adventurous again, wanting to try new things on vacation, moving through tough moments with an ease you didn’t think was possible. This is where things you’ve been waiting for, or the child you know is in there, starts to emerge.
Lindsay: "You've learned things that some people don't learn until they're adults and now you get to live the whole rest of your life with these tools."
Maddie: "I'm just glad I don't have to go to middle school without knowing these things!"
MONTH 12:
looking back and preparing for graduation
We'll celebrate a child who is proud of the progress that’s been made, someone who is increasingly confident about managing any moment and who is no longer scared about big feelings or big moments. You'll feel confident in your ability to help your child cultivate resilience in everyday ways.
AND BEYOND:
continued coaching is available or you can take it from here!
"We so appreciate your feedback and encouragement. A lot of this is starting to integrate for Jackson."
We can continue our practice with more executive function skills, tools for managing social situations smoothly, building strong family communication habits, growing an understanding of unique gifts and skills and how to use them in the world.
"Love this feedback, I just enjoy seeing them walk through life with a better understanding."
Debbie, an author and mom of a 17 yr old in Coaching says:
"Thank you so much for all of your time, energy, care, and generosity with Claire, Lindsay. We’re appreciate it more than I can express. Claire has truly appreciated it all too. I know the time you’ve shared with her will carry on with her far into the future, and Chris and I both feel so good knowing that. ❤️"
Stacy, an author and mom of a 14 yr old in Coaching says:
"Thank you so much for all your help with Nora. She has really appreciated the different perspectives and tools and we really do appreciate the help as parents. Hearing advice from another adult that isn’t so emotionally connected is so valuable to us. She loves you and we see such a big difference in her thinking."
