EMOTIONAL REGULATION ACTIVITIES IN A GROUP SETTING

Giving kids age-appropriate materials to learn concepts like flexibility & self-awareness provides them with the life-long skills to relate to others and the world around them in more positive ways.

Working with the Stress Nanny - from the first Kickoff to Calm call to the Less-Stressed Superstar Celebration and everything in between - your child will go on a journey of learning to break negative thought patterns, handle emotions, recognize behaviors and triggers, and manage responses with confidence.

In the short-term, your child might stop having tantrums, learn to manage worry, and gain confidence. But in the long-term, they’ll grow into competent, capable, self-assured adults.

Carrie, mom of a 9 yo in Mindfulness Club says:

"I reached out to you when we were truly desperate and grasping at straws and I'm forever grateful how you've taken good care of Sadie and welcomed her in. You do a masterful job of teaching kids about emotions and how to regulate them."

Mindfulness Club is a great fit for kids who:

HOW MINDFULNESS CLUB WORKS TO BUILD EMOTIONAL REGULATION

The Mindfulness Club Process

Untangling Stress Questionnaire

You're on your way to joining the club when you fill out your Untangling Stress Questionnaire, so we can understand what conversations will benefit your child once they join our Monday sessions.

The Checklist to Chill

No one loves housekeeping but it's gotta happen sometime... complete the club agreement, pay your first invoice and this month's mindfulness box will be in the mail - - but wait to open until we're on the call!

Your First Club Session

Our welcoming tradition is for your child to introduce themselves. The other kids will share three things that your child needs to know about them. Our playful, friendly environment will help your child feel right at home.

Your child will probably be a little excited and a little nervous about meeting the other kids. But after the call, don't be surprised if this session becomes an important part of his or her week. Little kids in particular feel Mindfulness Club is a regular highlight, and older kids recognize that they feel better after attending.

Meet & Greet

We'll meet up for a quick Zoom call to introduce ourselves and talk through what to expect in your first Mindfulness Club gathering.

Behind the Scenes Planning

Considering the needs of each child within Mindfulness Club, I prepare weekly activities to address at least one area of growth for each child on every call, leaving plenty of space for fun and friendly interaction.

Weekly Connection

Our sessions normalize a lot of emotional struggles kids have, because they hear others talking about them. They recognize they're not the only one for the first time! Because they are able to learn from other participants' wins, we build a lot of momentum as we try out new ideas and benefit from the group's perspective.

The supportive connection between the kids makes it fun and cool to practice mindfulness rather than feeling like a chore. There will still be tough days, but you'll begin to notice a thread of resilience in moments that used to bring angst.

ONCE YOU'VE BEEN A MEMBER OF MINDFULNESS CLUB FOR A WHILE, YOU...

Can Choose to Graduate

Looking back at your child's growth and celebrating all they've learned, we send them off to their next adventures with a club-wide confetti celebration. With trophy in hand, we ask about their biggest takeaways and invite them to share advice with other club members. We excitedly listen to how they'll use their mindfulness toolbox going forward into the next fun thing, recognizing that Mindfulness Club will always be something that they remember.

Family and parents are invited to join us on Zoom as we look back on how we've grown as a group and as individuals. We celebrate new friendships and skills like self-awareness, emotional regulation, mindfulness and resilience in moving through challenging moments.

May be Selected to Become a Mindfulness Mentor

If you've demonstrated leadership skills during your participation in Mindfulness Club (at least 18 months), you might be invited to become a mentor. Mentors share practical ways they use mindfulness in school, at sports, etc. Their perspective supports other kids who are just learning how to use mindfulness tools to manage stress.

Mentors usually serve for 6-12 months, often during their 8th or 9th grade year. They reinforce their learning by coming back to share their ideas and experiences on our weekly call.

While your child will still face challenges, he or she will do so with a foundation of confidence and resilience, knowing that there are always creative ways to manage tough situations.

MONTH ONE:

building trust and learning to work as a parent/coach/child team

"Ava wanted me to tell you that she wishes she could meet with you every day because she loves talking and learning from you!"

As we address your child's most pressing needs, I'll be building my relationship with them. You and your child will feel a sense of relief and a glimmer of hope that things can be different.

MONTHS 2-4:

normalizing emotions
and learning how brains work

"Thanks for sending the graphic, it was wonderful to see how Olivia is thinking about things. She has had a pretty great attitude about the adjustments and pivoting we have had to do. I am really grateful for what she has learned."

As your child begins to practice self-awareness you'll see a pause here and there. There will be moments when you see a little less reactivity than before.

MONTHS 5-7:

using self-awareness to test out new strategies and tools

"We so appreciate your feedback and encouragement. A lot of this is starting to integrate for Jackson."

As we build your child's emotional intelligence toolbox you'll see your child testing out different strategies. Look for trying, failing, trying again to figure out which tools help in which moments. This process gives us a chance to practice growth mindset.

Seth, dad of a 9 yr old in Mindfulness Club says:

Our 9 year old daughter used the breathing chart after Lindsay taught her about being a mindfulness superhero. After filling the chart she came out and said "I like doing the breathing to get prizes but I also like that it helps me fall asleep without being scared."
